Fix Your Digestion in 10 Simple Steps

Any long term digestion issue like bloated stomach or bowel discomfort should be consulted with your GP as soon as possible .. but before you decide to take medication, try this for a week. Sticking to these simple 10 rules for few days can make all the difference in the world.

  1. Don’t overeat!!  When you eat slowly and chew properly you avoid over eating and get full faster. Enjoy the eating process with all your senses and eat more mindfully.
  2. Keep HYDRATED. Water or herbal teas aid digestion and keep you energised. Stock up on peppermint, fennel, nettle or camomile infusions.
  3. Eat ONLY wholegrain foods like brown rice and wholemeal bread ( if you MUST eat bread) and avoid white refined flour and rice at any cost. Try to cut down on wheat intake like pasta biscuits and cakes.
  4. Don’t eat meat every day. Vegan meals are easier to digest, especially if you add lots of leafy greens, it will support the cleansing effect.
  5. Avoid fried foods. Eat raw or simply cooked or steamed meals. Add fermented foods to your diet.
  6. Take a good quality probiotic daily and drink a spoon or two of Aloe Vera Juice.
  7. Add exercise to your daily routine.
  8. Avoid mucus forming foods like refined grains, dairy products and eggs.
  9. Start the day with a glass of warm water with freshly squeezed lemon juice ( from one lemon) . Add 1 table spoon of apple cider vinegar.
  10. Add digestion supporting spices cayenne pepper, tumeric, corriander to your meals whenever possible.
