Vegfest Brighton & Fitness Myth Debunked.

For me every reason is good to visit Brighton, but presenting for Vegfest, tasting ridiculously delicious 100% plant based food and meeting like minded fitness fanatics is something I wouldn’t want to miss for the world. Every year this incredibly fun event gets better, bigger and stronger.

Amazingly, other than being a platform for health food and cruelty free beauty products, VEGFEST also hosts some of the fittest fitness models, athletes and bodybuilders who completely debunk the popular myth that vegans are skinny and protein deficient! Just have a look at few of the guys I managed to talk to .

Apart from some incredible bodybuilders, I bumped into the www.thetransformers co-founders David Evans and Dr. Agnes Chlebinska who were giving a talk on nutrition to a massive room totally packed with knowledge hungry audience. These two must be one of the most inspiring couples I have ever met.

I was a bit gutted I didn’t manage to talk to the forerunner champ Tim Shieff who is one of my favourite athletes – just look at his  showreel. The guy is absolutely amazing !

I was really excited, not only about interviewing the super fit vegan athletes and bodybuilders , but also about the debate I was taking part later in the afternoon with few prominent animal rights activists on the panel including Will Tuttle, Tim Barford, Karin Ridgers, Christopher Sebastian, Peter Smith of Vegan Society and Roger Yates . All the panelists were such different people from very different backgrounds but that is why the discussion ended up being intense and I loved being a part of it .

To me there is no question about the most effective way of activism: be the change you want to see in the world! Lead by example and make sure all you do is out of love. Love your body, be grateful for this holistic miracle machine and make sure you treat it with the respect it deserves for all the amazing things it allows you to do. Be good to yourself and once you’re happy and healthy you will inspire others.

And sometimes – ONLY sometimes ( 3x a year to be precise: at Vegfest Brighton, Vegfest Bristol and Vegfest London)  when you happen to be surrounded by the insanely tasty cakes – go on, treat yourself <3
